SF 49ers Fear Factor No. 2: Russell Wilson

While Roger Staubach was the SF 49ers’ No. 1 villain decades ago, Russell Wilson holds that title for Niners fans now.

And with good reason. It seems to be a rarity when the good guys win over Wilson and his Seahawks, particularly in the evil confines of CenturyLink Field. Perhaps San Francisco broke that curse, one which dated back to 2011, by pulling off the storybook win over Wilson and the Seahawks in Week 17 of the 2019 season.

Yet that doesn’t eliminate the fear 49ers fans have of what Wilson has seemingly done to the Niners regularly. Entering the 2020 season, Wilson owns a 12-4 record against his NFC West foe, having tossed 26 touchdowns, which were the most against any team he’s faced through 2019.

Any SF 49ers fan who has watched Wilson make those seemingly impossible throws at the worst possible moment can attest to just how painful those numbers are.

At least Wilson plays the role of a villain to San Francisco well.
