SF 49ers grades, position analysis from Week 7 win vs. Patriots
SF 49ers special teams, coaching grades
We didn’t see much from punter Mitch Wishnowsky given how dominant the 49ers were, but he did well enough on his lone punt. Hats off there.
Kicker Robbie Gould doinked an extra point off the post, but was otherwise perfect when needed to be.
The kickoff and punt returns weren’t much to write about on either offense or defense, it’s just not much to write about on that regard.
Sometimes you just have to sit back and appreciate a coaching masterclass on both sides of the ball, especially when it’s your team. Kyle Shanahan and defensive coordinator Robert Saleh had a coaching masterpiece from the beginning of the game.
Injuries be damned, Shanahan and Saleh made use of every single player left at their disposal and made it count.
The SF 49ers put up 33 points and could have pushed for at least 40 if they didn’t put the cue in the rack for the final quarter, while the defense intercepted the ball four times and didn’t let the Patriots score a touchdown even in garbage time.
Players like Jeff Wilson, JaMycal Hasty and Jamar Taylor had career games. It’s true the Patriots weren’t the healthiest either, but they were still favored in this game.
The 49ers need every ounce of genius Shanahan and Saleh possess to get them past the brutal schedule ahead of them and still have their playoff dreams afloat, the last two weeks have shown that fans should have every confidence in them.
