With the SF 49ers’ 3-3 record and all the injuries decimating last season’s NFC champions, there are still some great storylines so far in 2020.

To say this season has been a challenge for the SF 49ers thus far would be a colossal understatement. The devastating injuries that have plagued the defending NFC champs are well-chronicled.

For a team that finished the 2019 regular season with a 13-3 record and a Super Bowl berth, a 3-3 start in 2020 is still disappointing regardless, particularly considering the first six weeks of this year’s campaign were considered the “easy” stretch of San Francisco’s schedule. And when looking in hindsight at those two crushing losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins, it’s hard not to get a little frustrated.

In times like these, a team’s resolve, as well as its depth, will be challenged. With losses on the defensive line, linebacker, the secondary, the offensive line, running back, wide receiver, quarterback and tight end, general manager John Lynch’s offseason roster decisions will be even more heavily scrutinized than usual for the rest of the 2020 season.

And it might be too late to right the ship anyway, considering all the injuries and the lack of resources for Lynch to bring aboard some much-needed help.

While some may lament and harp on the negatives, there are still some terrific individual storylines developing after the first six weeks of the season.

Let’s be positive and look at four of those.
