The NY Jets appear to be hot sellers, and the SF 49ers should at least consider taking a stab at these four players prior to the NFL trade deadline.

There are plenty of good reasons why the 3-3 SF 49ers shouldn’t be overly active buyers between now and the 2020 NFL trade deadline in early November.

Considering the record, a brutal six-game stretch in which the Niners have four road games against playoff-likely teams, the sheer amount of injuries and the general lack of 2021 NFL Draft picks means general manager John Lynch probably won’t be overly active looking to add talent come the deadline.

Despite this, Lynch already executed a deal with the NY Jets by exchanging two late-round draft picks in 2021 and 2022 while picking up EDGE Jordan Willis from New York.

And by the signs of things, it appears as if the winless Jets are looking to go full fire-sale mode between now and the deadline.

A young player like Willis at least helps bulk up a thin SF 49ers pass-rush department, and he could be a useful commodity if retained into 2021, perhaps beyond. Should the Niners go with trades to acquire players, this should be towards the very top of the priority list: players who can fill an immediate need now while also potentially serving a vital role in the future.

San Francisco doesn’t have a ton of available cap space, and it’s unlikely Lynch will want to part ways with any draft compensation higher than Round 4. But with the uncertainty of the 2021 draft class, thanks to the global pandemic and its impact, perhaps some of those late-round picks might be of use in purging the pieces from the Jets’ pending fire sale.

Here are four targets the SF 49ers must consider.
