The SF 49ers defeated the LA Rams on Sunday Night Football. Niner Noise looks at the winners and losers from the statement victory.

What’s more thrilling: A roller coaster or the SF 49ers start to the 2020 season? They seem to be the same thing: Ups and downs, twists and turns. You just never know what’s happening next.

But on Sunday Night Football, in another must-win game, the SF 49ers defeated the LA Rams 24-16, bringing our roller coaster ride to its peak.

The 49ers needed to win this game for many reasons. They were embarrassed by the Miami Dolphins the previous week and, two weeks ago in prime time, they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. Both games were at Levi’s Stadium. But this is a divisional match-up. A loss would’ve been unacceptable.

Headed into the game there were thousands of questions surrounding the team. They answered many of them. The main question mark was the play of the offensive line, a unit which has struggled mightily. It answered the call.

Another question was the health of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. He seemed relatively fine and had his best game of the year. The body language on Garoppolo was positive all night.

The Rams came into the night with a 4-1 record, but all the wins came against non-NFC West teams. Nonetheless, they looked like the Rams of 2018, which might’ve given the SF 49ers a reason to get up and play.

Lead by interior defensive lineman Aaron Donald, the Rams never got much going on defence. They didn’t get much going on offence either. And it’s all thanks to the SF 49ers playing their best game of the year.

Let’s take a look at the winners and losers (yes, there a couple) from the Niners’ important Week 6 victory.
