3 LA Rams players who pose biggest threat to SF 49ers defense

No. 1 Threat to SF 49ers: Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp
In a sense, the Rams could list tight ends Gerald Everett and Tyler Higbee, as well as wide receivers Robert Woods and Josh Reynolds as bona fide threats to San Francisco’s banged-up defense.

Yet the biggest threat and danger to the SF 49ers in Week 6 comes from Los Angeles’ slot receiver, Cooper Kupp, who leads Sean McVay’s offense with 363 receiving yards on 28 receptions with two touchdowns. After bouncing back from an injury-plagued 2018 campaign with his first 1,000-plus yard effort in 2019, Kupp looks to be the primary go-to weapon at Jared Goff’s disposal once again this season.
Kupp is already elusive and potent enough to get behind most NFL defenses, yet his presence on the field presents an even greater challenge to the Niners.
San Francisco is going to be without nickel cornerback K’Waun Williams, who is still nursing a knee injury, meaning reserve nickel Jamar Taylor likely gets the start again. During Taylor’s efforts in Week 5, he surrendered three receptions on all three of his targets for 93 yards, earning a putrid 28.3 pass-coverage grade from Pro Football Focus.
That doesn’t bode well at all for the SF 49ers defense trying to contain Kupp.
The Niners and Rams kick off on Sunday Night Football on Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. ET from Levi’s Stadium.
