In a blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins, who were the SF 49ers’ three best performers?

When a team suffers a blowout loss there is typically very little to be optimistic about. This was the case with the SF 49ers in their 43-17 defeat to the Miami Dolphins. Very little went well on both sides of the ball. The offense had no rhythm early on and the defense was giving up yards in massive chunks.

By the end of the first half, the game was already firmly in the grasp of the Dolphins at a score of 30-7. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was 7-of-17 for 77 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Those two interceptions came at very inopportune times late in the second quarter and led to field goals for the Dolphins.

Garoppolo finished the half with a QB rating of 1.4. And due to that performance, he was replaced by backup quarterback C.J. Beathard for the second half. Beathard was able to lead the 49ers down the field to score a touchdown on his first offensive drive but was not able to lead the team to another touchdown-scoring drive after that.

Beathard finished the game 9-of-18 for 94 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions, and a QBR of 11.6.

Not much better than Garoppolo.

The defense also had a very poor outing against the Dolphins offense and their quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick. He threw for 350 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He was absolutely flawless against San Francisco’s defense.

In the midst of all that chaos for the SF 49ers on both sides of the ball, there were some silver linings. And though moral victories don’t win championships, there were some individuals who performed well against the Dolphins.

Who were these few players? Let’s take a look.
