SF 49ers fear Ezekiel Ansah is lost for season with biceps injury
By Peter Panacy
The SF 49ers’ ugly 25-20 loss to the Eagles in Week 4 suffered another blow with EDGE Ezekiel Ansah potentially lost for the season.
The SF 49ers can now add insult to their injury woes after suffering an embarrassing and disjointed 25-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 on Sunday Night Football.
Or the other way around.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan, whose squad is already riddled with serious injuries on both sides of the ball, will likely end up losing one of its newest additions, pass-rusher Ezekiel Ansah, who exited the game with an apparent arm injury just ahead of halftime in Sunday’s loss.
After the game, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported a likely biceps tear would prematurely end Ansah’s 2020 campaign:
Shanahan also suggested this was the likelihood in his postgame press conference:

San Francisco signed Ansah as a scramble move earlier this season after losing defensive linemen Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas to season-ending ACL tears. Ansah’s deal was for one year and $1.45 million.
Ansah, 31 years old, played 21 snaps for the SF 49ers in Week 3’s win over the New York Giants, not recording a tackle or a sack in the limited action.
On Sunday night against Philadelphia, Ansah also didn’t hit the stat sheet.
The Niners’ injury woes over the course of the entire season have heavily influenced the 2-2 start, and Ansah going out won’t help matters at all. For now, defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Kerry Hyder are the two best pass-rushers on the roster.
And with a limited array of available free agents, it’s going to be tough for San Francisco to add some much-needed depth to make up for all those injuries Shanahan and Co. have suffered.
Unfortunately for Ansah, it’s looking as if his story with the SF 49ers will be short-lived, and the Niners’ injury concerns won’t be helped at all after they lose yet another player for the season.
