While the SF 49ers are expected to roll over the Jets in Week 2, New York does pose some threats. Here are three to wonder about.

The smart money would easily be on the SF 49ers handling their business against the 0-1 New York Jets at MetLife Stadium this Sunday for Week 2 of NFL action.

After all, the Niners are seven-point road favorites in this contest, according to the Action Network. And despite head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad being notably shorthanded, particularly with cornerback Richard Sherman (leg) and tight end George Kittle (knee) both out, there are plenty of weapons on both sides of the ball to convince many guessers San Francisco should dominate head coach Adam Gase’s squad in all phases.

Well, not so fast.

The 49ers were also favored in Week 1 at home over the Arizona Cardinals, yet Arizona pulled off the road upset to force the Niners to a 0-1 record to start the season. It’s possible to argue San Francisco beat itself in that game by failing to execute, particularly with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the pass game. But when the clock struck zero, the Cardinals simply played better than the 49ers.

However unlikely it may seem, there’s always the chance and threat the Jets could outplay the Niners this Sunday, too. San Francisco’s offense could still be disjointed, and there are a number of X-factors for New York that could be difficult for Shanahan and Co. to overcome. The SF 49ers showed some vulnerabilities in Week 1. And while the context is entirely different versus the Jets, expect Gase and his squad to try taking advantage of these elements.

Here are the three biggest threats from New York to the Niners’ chances of getting back to the .500 mark.
