No. 1: SF 49ers defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw could have a coming-out game

While the majority of focus from San Francisco’s defensive vantage point will be on EDGE Nick Bosa, it’s actually the SF 49ers’ top NFL Draft choice from this year, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, who could provide the most impact.

New York’s rookie offensive tackle, Mekhi Becton, actually performed notably well in his NFL debut against a prolific Bills outside pass rush, and Bosa figures to face off against both him and any other number of double teams on Sunday.

Kinlaw, meanwhile, should see plenty of one-on-one matchups. And despite his raw abilities needing refinement, there was enough to like about his Week 1 efforts to suggest he should be on the field more frequently than the 47.6 percent of defensive snaps he saw against Arizona.

During that game, Kinlaw registered a tackle and one quarterback pressure. Yet those figures could easily increase against a Jets offensive line currently ranked 25th in support of the pass, according to Football Outsiders, and allowed a Bills pressure rate of 20.5 percent.

Plus, Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is nowhere near as elusive as Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, meaning the interior pass rush should do a lot better than it did in Week 1.

Expect Kinlaw to be a major factor in Sunday’s contest, which kicks off on Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium.
