It wasn’t pretty for SF 49ers Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 1, but he’ll bounce back against the New York Jets.

SF 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been the headline of many stories since Sunday’s debacle against the Arizona Cardinals. Most of it warranted, but let’s remember it’s only the first week.

And going along the same theme as New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would say, “We’re on to the New York Jets.”

Week 1 in the NFL was a bit weird across the board. The Carolina Panthers had a chance to potentially win their game and didn’t use their best player to get a first down. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ first touchdown was a quarterback sneak by Tom Brady, and then they got crushed by the New Orleans Saints including throwing an interception for a touchdown.

Yes, let’s admit Garoppolo didn’t have a great game. But many teams and players made mistakes and timing was off, however it was just the reality of not having a preseason.

Garoppolo has a chance to prove himself to the Niners Faithful, his teammates and coaching staff, but most importantly himself.

The SF 49ers’ next opponent is the aforementioned Jets. The last time these teams met at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, was back in 2012. Led by quarterback Alex Smith, the Niners dominated the Jets by a score of 34-0.

The Jets gave up 306 passing yards to the Buffalo Bills in their Week 1 loss, with five receivers recording at least 20 yards or more. Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a field day going 33-of-46, two touchdowns and also ran one in.

This is a game Garoppolo can take over, and it starts with himself.
