No. 3: Breaking the single-season SF 49ers rushing record

There’s no doubt Frank Gore’s career has been as impressive as most other all-time rushers, but his second season in San Francisco in which he rushed for 1,695 yards as a sophomore (breaking the single-season rushing record for the franchise) may be his best season to date.

His 5.4 yards per carry that year was among the highest in the NFL, and it essentially solidified that year Gore would be spending quite a bit more time with the 49ers.

He also added 61 receptions for 485 receiving yards as well.

To many, Gore was seen as a question mark upon his selection in the 2005 NFL Draft as he endured two ACL tears in his knees during his tenure with the University of Miami. This narrative quickly became a fallacy as he proved his durability as a running back during his 2006 breakout.

The 2006 season was a true masterclass by Gore, so it earns the third spot on our list.
