SF 49ers Running Backs (5)

RB Raheem Mostert

RB Jerick McKinnon

RB Tevin Coleman

RB JaMycal Hasty

FB Kyle Juszczyk

Not much change this time around, except in the final running back slot, which had previously gone to Jeff Wilson Jr., but now serves to completely contradict the statement about how hard it would be for an undrafted free-agent rookie to make the team.

The new slot goes to JaMycal Hasty, a rookie out of Baylor, who seems to be doing enough in training camp to warrant inclusion here on the roster. There’s always a chance the team tries to sneak him onto the practice squad, but the concern about losing him altogether might be considerable.

He may serve mostly as either an option on special teams or even as the last man out on the active roster for games, but having him around could be a good step towards beyond 2020.

The remainder of the group is pretty well set in stone, with last season’s playoff hero Raheem Mostert leading the pack, former Atlanta Falcon Tevin Coleman serving as the bigger, bruising option, with a now-healthy Jerick McKinnon taking advantage of linebackers in space.

Add fullback Kyle Juszczyk, whose presence was missed when he was out during the middle of last season, and you’ve got a stellar running back room which should make up one of the NFL’s premier rushing attacks again this season.
