Why not just stop with leading the SF 49ers in sacks?
Nick Bosa can achieve that goal for the Niners in 2020. But these are ambitious goals, right? Bosa shouldn’t just be looking for a team lead, no, he should be eyeing the best sack specialists in the entire NFL.
Despite Bosa’s other-wordly efforts in 2019, he still managed to finish tied for 22nd in total sacks. Granted, there’s so much more going into a top defender’s efforts than solely getting to the quarterback and taking him down. But the elite-level pass-rushers often find themselves high up in this category.
Last year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Shaquil Barrett surprised with 19.5 sacks, while the Arizona Cardinals’ Chandler Jones was right behind him with 19.
To get into the top three in this category, Bosa will have to push his sack total well beyond the upper threshold of 15 sacks in a single season, likely meaning he’ll have to enjoy some of those two- and three-sack games he at times flashed last year.
