Final thoughts dealing with injuries

All NFL teams have to deal with injuries, and it’s something that cannot be entirely avoided despite the best-intended efforts. A good team learns how to compensate for serious injuries, however, and teams learn how to create a quality depth chart with solid backups who can pitch in and help if a starter goes down.

The 49ers did an excellent job last season with this, giving other players amazing opportunities to show their skill.

Case in point, when the Niners lost George Kittle for two games in 2019, backup tight end Ross Dwelley made a small-but-necessary impact, catching two clutch touchdowns and converting some key third-down conversions.

Still, losing any one of these players for a lengthy period of time would create a massive problem for Kyle Shanahan and Co., and he’ll certainly be hoping none of these players wind up being injury liabilities entering the upcoming season.
