49ers EDGE Nick Bosa

It may be a bit pre-mature, but edge rusher Nick Bosa is not only looking like the team’s best defender, but like one of the best pass-rushers in the entire league. He displayed one of the greatest rookie seasons among defenders in recent memory.

The 2019 defensive rookie of the year was so impactful last year, that his second overall selection in the draft is looking like a steal. According to Pro Football Focus, he had the third-highest PFF rookie ranking for an edge defender, only behind the Denver Broncos’ Von Miller and then-Oakland Raiders’ Khalil Mack:

Bosa’s display of 9.0 sacks, 25 quarterback hits, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries was a virtual masterclass last year and essentially solidified his title as the team’s best defensive player for years to come. His skill level would be near impossible to replace and his impact on the defensive front is something that makes other teams wish they had tanked for a shot at a play of Bosa’s skill level.

His electric speed off the line and athletic prowess combine to produce a near-perfect modern-day edge rusher.

Fans can look forward to being able to watch Bosa destroy opposing quarterbacks for years to come.
