No. 1: 49ers EDGE Nick Bosa

Edge rushers don’t necessarily get their own spots in All-Pro voting, going in as either linebackers or defensive linemen. But that doesn’t change the fact Nick Bosa is quickly emerging as one of the NFL’s rising stars.

More from SF 49ers News

He was, after all, the league’s Defensive Rookie of the Year recipient after producing a nine-sack campaign during the regular season in 2019.

It’s a bit strange, however, Bosa didn’t receive too much recognition as a first- or second-team All-Pro last year. Perhaps the failure to hit double-digit sacks worked against him, but one needs to factor in Bosa’s exceptional pressure abilities, which ramped back up in the playoffs after taking a bit of a dip during the second half of the regular season.

Bosa recently told reporters he was in incredible shape ahead of the 2020 season, which is good news for the Niners and not-so-great news for their opponents.

There are plenty of elite pass-rushers out there in the mix, including Bosa’s older brother, Los Angeles Chargers EDGE Joey Bosa. But Nick Bosa is certainly on the rise, and it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see him earn the first of what could be a long line of first-team All-Pro accolades over the course of his budding career.
