No. 2: Wide Receiver Trent Taylor

Wide receiver is a big question mark for San Francisco this season, made even more problematic because of Richie James and Deebo Samuel‘s respective injuries.

One player returning from injury, however, is slot receiver Trent Taylor who suffered a similar Jones fracture in his foot as did Samuel. The hope is, of course, Samuel’s injury won’t take a full year to heal, as Taylor missed all of 2019 and underwent multiple surgeries in the process.

But that doesn’t change the fact Taylor was one of the Niners’ most productive pass catchers during camp a year ago. Even NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco thought Taylor would end up leading the 49ers in receptions last year:

Fully healthy now, Taylor could easily return to the kind of form he displayed before suffering his foot injury, capitalizing on the already-established rapport he had with Jimmy Garoppolo previously.

If so, one could expect Taylor to be another massive standout during camp while easing some of those concerns the team has at the position.
