49ers film room: How Jets Jamal Adams would take Niners to next level
No. 1: Who wouldn’t want a momentum-shifting, generational talent on their team? The 49ers would love Jamal Adams
Obviously, the Giants didn’t learn their lesson. Did anyone expect them to? No, of course not. They have hired a new head coach for a reason.
In this Week 10 game against the Giants, Adams had two sacks, nine tackles, one pass defended, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery that went for a defensive touchdown. The previous play was the first forced fumble, however, Adams went and topped that play at the start of the third quarter.
The Giants are in a single back formation with Daniel Jones under center. They have three receivers in a bunch to their right. Adams is next to the bunch of the offenses right. Adams is lined-up almost like an inside linebacker. Adams goes on a delayed blitz and Saquon Barkley has to pick Adams up again in pass protection.
Would you like to guess what happened next? Or is it too obvious?
Adams blows by Barkley like Barkley isn’t even there, pushing the running back 5 yards on the first impact. Almost perfectly in stride, Adams picks Jones’ pocket and nonchalantly takes the ball from Jones and returns it for a defensive touchdown:
The Giants did not learn their lesson, unsurprisingly, and were made to pay, with their own lunch money.
Which team wouldn’t want a momentum-altering, generational talent in the shape of Jamal Adams?
The 49ers sure would love Adams.
