49ers Target No. 2: Following in his father’s footsteps, Jevon Holland would make a huge impact on the defense

According to The Draft Network, defensive back Jevon Holland is the top-ranked Canadian and could be taken In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. When you watch some highlights of the Canadian-born player, you’ll understand why.

Holland’s family is a football family. His father, Robert, played for the 49ers before heading to Edmonton where he won the 1993 Grey Cup and then moved over the Rocky Mountains to play for the B.C. Lions. Jevon’s brother, Jemirr, is a promising prospect at the CFL level who could join his brother and father in the NFL one day.

Jevon Holland is a ballhawk. He had nine interceptions over the last two years with the Oregon Ducks. Take a look at this interception from a game at the tail end of 2018. It’s a sloppy performance by the quarterback, but the effort from Holland certainly didn’t go unnoticed:

The receiver seemed like he let up on the play, most likely thinking it’s an incompletion. Holland is quick enough to get around the receiver and make the catch inches before the ball touches the ground.

Effort.

Scouts and coaches love when players put in the effort. Whether it’s in practice or on a broken play during a game, if a player demonstrates an extra amount of effort, they’ll be looked at more. Holland proved it in just one Twitter highlight video.

Holland on a Robert Saleh defense would make them unstoppable. Already with one of the best defenses in the NFL, adding Holland could take this team to the next level.

With the other NFC West teams getting better (the Arizona Cardinals for example) the 49ers will need to stay one step ahead of their division foes.
