49ers Target No. 3: Chuba Hubbard will be one of the most sought-after running backs in the 2021 NFL Draft

Admittedly, this one might be a stretch.

But we’re looking at ways to improve the 49ers roster for the future, and running back Chuba Hubbard fits the bill. Projected to be taken within the first 75 picks, there’s a chance the Niners could scoop him up, depending on where they finish this season.

The 49ers backfield got slightly slimmer when they sent Matt Brieda packing to the Miami Dolphins. This leaves them with Tevin Coleman, Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., and Jerick McKinnon.

With Mostert not doing himself any favours by asking for a trade and the uncertainty of Coleman’s play every week, the Niners might be on the lookout for a new face in the backfield.

Hubbard would undoubtedly improve the 49ers run game. The Edmonton, Alberta native attended Oaklahoma State as a track athlete to start.

Here’s a look at his speed:

Yeah, he’s fast.

Hubbard proved his worth last season at OSU. He averaged 161 yards for a total of 2,094 in only 13 games played. He also added 21 touchdowns.

Assuming this football season gets underway, you’ll certainly hear more about the kid from Canada as he’s already in the conversation for the Heisman Trophy.
