If players from football movies (or football scenes in movies) were real, which ones could help the 2020 49ers?

It’s the offseason, which means there’s a lot of fun to be had for San Francisco 49ers fans. This includes making up ridiculous scenarios and trying to add fictional football players to the franchise’s current squad.

A quick nod to our friends over at Blogging Dirty, the FanSided site for the Atlanta Falcons, for inspiring this idea. I solemnly swear I did not read the article in full, so any players on my list that happen to be on theirs are purely coincidental.

The idea is pretty simple: look at the 49ers’ current roster and see if any players who played football in movies could slide into a role on the Niners and help to make that sixth Lombardi Trophy dream a reality.

Unfortunately, there are no stats to support any of the placements here, just the eye test based on what the particular films show us and an understanding of where the 49ers’ needs might be and where they can improve on an otherwise solid roster.

So there will be no Pro Football Focus grades, no career stats from Pro Football Reference, and certainly advanced metrics of any kind.

But it will be fun to dream about these players being real and contributing to the 2020 Niners.

We’ll begin with a position that may not be the biggest need for 2020, but definitely has several question marks beyond the upcoming season.
