When I say linebacker Fred Warner will have a career year, I am talking an All-Pro type of season.

Warner is a very smart, very athletic player who has established himself as the quarterback of that defense and already had a career year in 2019. Finishing with 118 total tackles, 89 solo tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and one interception he took to the house against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16:

Warner is going to follow up his career year in 2019 with an even better one in 2020. In his first two seasons, he has started 32 of 32 possible games, with all of last year being given the reigns of making the calls on the field for the rest of the squad.

Year three, historically, is a big year for young players, and one who has as much experience already as Warner, this year could be pretty special for him.

So what would a career year look like for a guy who just posted all the impressive stats that were listed above? One area I think he could improve on his forcing turnovers. I think we could see him snag a few more interceptions this season, and possibly add to the forced fumbles stat. But the biggest thing will be areas of his game that don’t show up on the stat sheet.

In 2020, Warner is going to make all his teammates on defense better. He has seen so many live reps in his two-year career, he is going to be recognizing plays faster, he will be more familiar with what offenses are trying to do and will be able to communicate all of that to his team. Statistically, I imagine it will look very close to 2019.

But at the end of the season, I think people outside of the 49ers organization and fanbase will be taking note that Warner is a top-three linebacker in the NFL.
