What if the 49ers could grab one player from each of their NFC West rivals this offseason?

There’s not a lot of needs the San Francisco 49ers have heading into 2020.

Coming off a tough loss in Super Bowl LIV, the Niners still boast a stacked roster. And despite some notable changes during the offseason, there’s little reason to believe head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad is anything but a championship contender heading towards the regular season.

That said, Shanahan and general manager John Lynch have never shied away from making upgrades on the roster where possible.

But let’s have a little bit of fun for a moment and envision a scenario where San Francisco could purge one player from each of their NFC West division rivals, improving its own crop and lessening the threat of those other teams.

Some could argue the NFC West is the most loaded division in the entire NFL heading into 2020. The 49ers could and should expect the Seattle Seahawks to be right there in the playoff hunt. The Los Angeles Rams are just two seasons removed from a Super Bowl appearance of their own, while the upstart Arizona Cardinals might be the best five-win team from a year ago and certainly improved their roster during the offseason.

So, what if the Niners could steal one player from each of those squads? Who would it be?

Since this is a pretend scenario, let’s not get ourselves hung up on the financial considerations. No salary cap, no contract question marks or any of that.

Instead, let’s just imagine which players from San Francisco’s NFC West rivals could provide a serious upgrade for Shanahan and Co.
