No. 3: Dee Ford or Joey Bosa for 49ers?

Yes this is going to be a frustrating topic for those who don’t want to trade further resources or who don’t want to raise questions on the future of the team before the season has already started.

But it’s going to become a bigger story later in the season, so we may as well get used to it. The truth is that it is a realistic prospect that this could happen.

Rumor has it Los Angeles Chargers EDGE Joey Bosa wants to join his brother, EDGE Nick Bosa, at the 49ers in 2021 and beyond. Niner Noise talked about the attractiveness of obtaining him here.

Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated released an intriguing article about why the team will probably cut EDGE Dee Ford by the end of the season. It explains while Ford is a good teammate who was effective on the field, his knee will never fully heal and the financial implications of keeping him further makes no sense.

It’s a tough business.

The Chargers won’t just give up their star defender, but a tag and trade to the 49ers would give them a dream tandem on either end of the defensive line for the long term.

Joey Bosa is younger and healthier than Ford, but the price of getting him will be high.

It’s a tricky call.
