Final thoughts on 49ers wide receivers

The 49ers certainly have a lot of talent at the wide receiver position.

If Jalen Hurd and Trent Taylor can get back to form, that will be a huge asset to the team. But the Niners also need to display caution in placing too high of expectations on players returning from serious injury.

Pettis, as mentioned earlier, has a lot of talent and can be a huge contributor to the team if he bounces back. He just needs to prove himself now.

Aiyuk is a bit of a mystery, given the fact he’s a first-year player, and will hopefully have an excellent rookie season to justify the trade up last April.

Right now, Deebo Samuel and Kendrick Bourne are the most reliable targets at wide receiver. That’s not a terrible tandem to have, of course, but the Niners are going to be far better off if some of the X-factors and wild cards pan out on the positive side of the equation.
