No. 3: Everything is “Goulden”, 49ers K Robbie Gould

The 49ers 2018 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee was kicker Robbie Gould. Throughout his NFL career which began in 2005 with the Chicago Bears, Gould has tried to give back to the community.

His organization, the Goulden Touch, has done a variety of community outreach programs ranging from work with children’s hospitals to working with kitchens that feed the hungry.

Gould did an amazing job of leveraging his platform in 2018 during the second annual Charity Challenge. The event involved fans tweeting out #WPMOYChallenge along with their nominee’s name. The winner was to receive $25,000, second place $10,000 and third place $5,000 for their charities.

Gould along with 49ers (and possibly Bears) fan support was able to come in second place in the challenge and raise an additional $10,000 for the Goulden Touch. It was a great show of solidarity between a fanbase and a player.

While the 49er Faithful were proud to see Gould use his voice and platform to make a difference in the community, it was a real team effort. And Gould was likely just as proud of his social media followers for helping him earn money for his charity.
