It’s time to get bold with these three 49ers predictions for 2020.

Unlike last year, the 2020 San Francisco 49ers won’t be tabbed as massive overachievers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad isn’t coming off a four-win season and isn’t projected to finish the regular season hovering around the .500 mark.

Nope, instead the Niners are currently listed as ESPN’s third-best team heading into this season, according to the sports site’s Football Power Index, behind only the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs and top-flight Baltimore Ravens.

Needless to say, it would be foolish to sleep on San Francisco.

Despite the expectation levels and the 49ers’ window for a Super Bowl now opened, there are always the chances for surprises. Case in point, last year, few would have predicted running back Raheem Mostert would catch the league by storm late in the season. Entering training camp in 2019, some may have questioned if he would even make the 53-man roster.

Now, he’s one of the most important pieces of head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Those kinds of predictions are fun to make. Had someone suggested Mostert’s ascent into stardom back in August of 2019, it would have been the boldest of bold predictions. Yet it would have turned out to be correct.

So what kind of bold outcomes should San Francisco expect this season?

There are a lot of factors and X-factors yet to be determined between now and Week 1, of course, so the proverbial “anything can happen” still applies here. That said, let’s have a little bit of fun and evaluate some of the bolder predictions we’re willing to make for the red and gold this upcoming season.

Here are three bold predictions for your 49ers in 2020.
