No. 3: 49ers Defensive Tackle Bryant Young

He’ll probably always remain on the cusp of being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But former 49ers defensive lineman Bryant Young is, without question, one of the franchise’s Hall of Fame-worthy players in franchise history.

Heck, while his four Pro Bowl nods and one first-team All-Pro nomination might not convince the nationwide experts, Young’s accomplishments during the team’s heyday years of the mid 1990s and into the early 2000s stand alone.

Young was phenomenal and made everyone around him better. And his 89.5 career sacks still remain a franchise best.

Granted, San Francisco’s defensive line is still stacked even after trading away Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner during the offseason. And while the hope is the 2020 rookie, Javon Kinlaw, can have a Young-esque career, adding Young to the mix would truly make this unit scary beyond belief.

Remember, D-line depth is essential to defensive success. Young being able to play anywhere along the line would surely help with the rotation, too.
