No. 1: Seahawks @ 49ers, Week 17

“It doesn’t surprise me,” Kyle Shanahan told NFL Network when he found out the 49ers would play the Seahawks to close out the 2020 regular season. “I know that’s fun to watch. That’s football, as good as it gets.”

Honestly, it shouldn’t surprise anyone. After what happened in the waning minutes of Week 17 last year when the Niners and Hawks duked it out for NFC West supremacy, fans should hope for the same kind of context again this year.

And while San Francisco has the benefit of being at home for this possibly division-deciding game this time around, Week 17 poses the toughest regular-season challenge Shanahan’s squad will face this season.

Seattle, meanwhile, will be looking to pull off the surprise upset.

Both games these two teams played last season were decided in the waning seconds; the Niners’ home loss stemming from a missed field goal and then a Seahawks game winner, while Dre Greenlaw’s tackle saved San Francisco’s division crown and No. 1 seed in the playoffs. The Week 17 win erased the painful would-be implications from the earlier loss at Levi’s Stadium.

This season, the Seahawks will want to flip the script and will face off against the Niners in such a fashion.
