With the 2020 NFL schedule now out, the San Francisco 49ers have some notable and key storylines to monitor over the course of the upcoming season. Here are five you won’t want to miss.

There are going to be two more times for the San Francisco 49ers to put a stop to any chatter their NFC West division rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, used to boast for the better part of the last decade.

And it’s worth arguing the one-sided rivalry turned on its head in Week 17 last year when the Niners secured both the division and the No. 1 seed in the conference by pulling off their first win at CenturyLink Field since 2012.

In thrilling fashion, too. Thanks to linebacker Dre Greenlaw, the 49ers secured both the NFC West crown and top seed.

Few guessed how that game would have turned out, but most likely agreed that season-ending bout could be crucial in determining the outcome of the division and San Francisco’s ultimate fate. Thankfully, it went in the 49ers’ favor.

Now, the 2020 NFL schedule is announced, and the Niners will get their dual chances to knock off the Seahawks, as well as the NFC West’s other teams. But with interdivisional bouts against both the AFC East and NFC East, along with a first-place schedule, San Francisco’s return to a Super Bowl berth will be accompanied by even more storylines worth watching.

Some storylines are player related, including a lot of reunions with former players and their squads. Others will likely have implications for the 49ers’ postseason prospects, just like what happened at the tail end of 2019.

Whatever the reasons may be, you’ll want to pay attention to these top five storylines from San Francisco’s upcoming 2020 regular-season campaign.
