The San Francisco 49ers’ 2020 NFL schedule is now officially released, and the Niners have a number of early road games before hosting the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17.

After weeks of speculation and already knowing who the San Francisco 49ers will play in 2020, the true NFL schedule for the upcoming season is now released.

The Niners officially released their 2020 campaign on Twitter Thursday afternoon.

  • Week 1 vs. Arizona Cardinals
  • Week 2 @ New York Jets
  • Week 3 @ New York Giants
  • Week 4 vs. Philadelphia Eagles*
  • Week 5 vs. Miami Dolphins
  • Week 6 vs. Los Angeles Rams*
  • Week 7 @ New England Patriots
  • Week 8 @ Seattle Seahawks
  • Week 9 vs. Green Bay Packers*
  • Week 10 @ New Orleans Saints
  • Week 11 BYE
  • Week 12 @ Los Angeles Rams
  • Week 13 vs. Buffalo Bills*
  • Week 14 vs. Washington Redskins
  • Week 15 @ Dallas Cowboys*
  • Week 16 @ Arizona Cardinals
  • Week 17 vs. Seattle Seahawks

The defending NFC champions will get their usual NFC West schedule of two inter-divisional games apiece, combined with the first-place schedule and matchups against the AFC East and NFC East this year.

Additionally, the Niners will have five prime-time games, kicking off with their Week 4 home bout against the Eagles on Sunday Night Football. San Francisco plays again on Sunday Night Football two weeks later by hosting the visiting Rams, then again in Week 15 on the road against the Cowboys.

The 49ers’ Thursday Night Football game takes place in Week 9 against the visiting Packers, whom the Niners defeated in the NFC Championship game last season to make it to the Super Bowl.

Week 13 against the Bills will be played on Monday Night Football.

San Francisco also closes out its regular season with a likely to-determine NFC West bout against the Seahawks, this time at Levi’s Stadium. On the final game of the 2019 regular season, the Niners needed a goal-line stand against their division rivals to ensure both the NFC West crown and No. 1 seed in the conference.

“It doesn’t surprise me,” head coach Kyle Shanahan told NFL Network shortly after the schedule came out. “I know that’s fun to watch. That’s football, as good as it gets.”

It looks like the NFL would be perfectly happy to see something similar happen again in 2020.

49ers 2020 preseason opponents

While they’re not anywhere near as important, the 49ers’ preseason opponents this year are as follows:

  • Week 1 @ Denver Broncos
  • Week 2 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
  • Week 3 @ Chicago Bears
  • Week 4 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Week 3 on the road in Chicago will be interesting to watch, as this particular exhibition week tends to be the regular-season tuneup.
