No. 3: Week 2, 49ers @ New York Jets

It’s been a while since the Niners have traveled east to take on the Jets. But with San Francisco and the rest of the NFC West getting to square off against the AFC East this year, there were bound to be two games in the eastern time zone.

2012 marked the last time the 49ers were in New York to play Gang Green, and they have a pretty brutal early schedule of their own. Yet the Niners will look to repeat the 34-0 beatdown they had the last time at MetLife Stadium.

Only it might not be that easy.

The Jets aren’t predicted to be a playoff contender this season, so it’s easy to see why San Francisco could take this game lightly. But East Coast trips are always tricky to manage, even if the Niners likely plan on staying back east for their Week 3 matchup at the same stadium versus the Giants.

It could be both hot and humid in New Jersey at that time of year, and the 49ers could have plenty of trouble chasing Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray around in Week 1, potentially tiring out San Francisco’s defense.

At least the Niners will enjoy a friendly reunion with a future Hall of Fame running back and friend, Frank Gore.
