No. 4: Running Back JaMycal Hasty, Baylor

The 49ers parted ways with running back Matt Breida via a trade with the Miami Dolphins during the NFL Draft, clearing up some room amid the Niners’ other runners, which was subsequently crowded again by the UDFA additions of Washington’s Salvon Ahmed and Baylor’s JaMycal Hasty.

Hasty could have easily been drafted. Especially after watching some of his one-cut abilities at the collegiate level:

Hasty’s 5-foot-8, 205-pound frame might be seen as a disadvantage at the pro level. But he was able to use that low center of gravity to his advantage, making for a tough tackle.

While tackling in training camp is nowhere near what it’ll be during preseason and regular-season games, it should be fun watching a player like Hasty use that frame and his abilities to raise eyebrows this season.

And there’s a solid chance Hasty winds up being another UDFA standout like Breida was his rookie season.
