San Francisco 49ers: Far-too-soon mock 2021 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers have already answered some of their cornerback needs by grabbing Paulson Adebo in Round 1. But that might only address a would-be departure of Richard Sherman.
Likewise, K’Waun Williams could prove to be a difficult re-sign candidate for San Francisco in 2021. Pro Football Focus has given Williams overall grades of 66.7 and 77.2 in 2018 and 2019, respectively, which are pretty good numbers.
Third-year defensive back D.J. Reed is a candidate to eventually start. But if the Niners aren’t comfortable with Reed, going after Baylor defensive back Raleigh Texada could be a nice pickup in Round 6.
Texada’s 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame is made for nickel duties, and he also has speed to go along with the fact he didn’t surrender a single touchdown for the Bears back in 2019.
If that’s the kind of production Texada is projected to offer at the pro level, this could be a steal of a pick.
