San Francisco 49ers: Far-too-soon mock 2021 NFL Draft
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers are predicted to get one compensatory pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and it likely winds up being towards the tail end of Round 5.
While the Niners already selected Brandon Aiyuk and Tennessee’s Jauan Jennings in the 2020 draft, there’s always the chance one of those two doesn’t pan out, and the Niners’ receiving depth is still questionable enough to suggest head coach Kyle Shanahan will want to take advantage of what looks to be yet another deep wide receiver class in 2021.
North Carolina wide receiver Dazz Newsome seems to fit the bill for a Shanahan-type receiver in the latter rounds.
Newsome is more explosive than fast, and some may question his 5-foot-11 frame. Still, based almost solely off his 1,018-yard, 10-touchdown campaign from a year ago, it’s hard to see anything but him being a playmaker.
For a late-round find with plenty of upside, grabbing Newsome towards the end of Round 5 would be a fine choice.
