The San Francisco 49ers have their 90-man offseason roster set after the 2020 NFL Draft, yet targeting one of these remaining free agents could help matters a lot.

There isn’t a lot of room for improvement, as far as the San Francisco 49ers roster is concerned. And while it didn’t get overly better in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Niners did help ensure continuity from last year’s Super Bowl squad is maintained as best as possible.

Most notably, general manager John Lynch reinforced three pressing areas of need: the offensive line, wide receiver and the defensive line. This was accomplished by making the blockbuster trade for perennial Pro Bowl offensive tackle Trent Williams, which helps offset the loss of left tackle Joe Staley to retirement. South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw should aim to fill the void left by another Pro Bowler, DeForest Buckner, while Arizona State’s Javon Kinlaw bolsters a wide receiver corps needing some help.

In total, San Francisco brought aboard five rookie prospects and made the Williams trade during the draft, then inked additional undrafted free agents to round out the 90-man offseason roster.

Right now, the 49ers have $16,645,549 available in cap space, according to Over the Cap, and roughly $8 million of that will be used to sign the rookie class. So there isn’t a lot of room to sign players in NFL free agency.

But that doesn’t mean Lynch should completely avoid the remaining crop of free agents still out there.

With the draft now complete, the Niners could benefit from some additional free-agent upgrades between now and training camp, and these three unsigned players should be on San Francisco’s radar.
