Wide Receiver. Gators . Van Jefferson. 1. player. 840.

I’ve talked about my love for Florida wide receiver Van Jefferson before, and if the 49ers defy common belief that a receiver is on the cards early for them, Jefferson is easily one of the most attractive alternatives later in the NFL Draft.

Exactly where Jefferson is picked is a matter of conjecture, and he could be picked anywhere in the middle rounds.

Jefferson has a lot of potential with his versatility and ability. In the previous article I wrote:

"He has a decent build at 6-foot-2 and 197 pounds, and his best strength may be his route running. Route running is important for the 49ers offense, as those abilities are what gives receivers that separation that allow the tricky plays to work. Jefferson also had a lot of versatility for the pros. He can play outside and in the slot, while also contributing to special teams as a gunner. Florida has done a good job getting him prepared for the NFL. Jefferson also has solid hands. Drops were an issue at times during the season, so the 49ers need more receivers who can secure the football."

Jefferson is not especially speedy and his frame is already maxed out, but he would be a nice value pick for the middle rounds.
