4 cornerbacks from NFL Draft 49ers could pair with Richard Sherman

There are few safe bets in the NFL Draft, but a good one to hang chances on is grabbing defensive backs out of LSU. For whatever reason, the Tigers can produce them.
Cornerback Kristian Fulton is the next prospective boundary corner to be added to this list of pro hopefuls. At 6-foot-0 and 197 pounds, he’s a tad undersized for what the 49ers have traditionally wanted in their outside corners: long, lanky builds. And the scouting reports generally point to Fulton being more of a cover guy in a man-coverage scheme.
The Niners have operated zone in recent years, but 2019 showed a small switch to more man coverage. Should San Francisco continue in this trend a bit more this season, Fulton starts to make a bit more sense.
Granted, with just two interceptions during his collegiate career, Fulton doesn’t seem to look the part of a ballhawk. But it’s important to remember quarterbacks weren’t often targeting his area of the field. When they did, Fulton allowed a mere 40 percent completion mark from 2018 onward.
That’s pretty elite.
Fulton is a solid day-two pick, which would mean the Niners somehow decide to trade down from No. 31 to target a player like him.
