No. 4: Linebacker Keena Turner

It should come as no surprise the remaining members of this list will be players who were part of the 49ers dynasty of the 1980s and, in many cases, were four-time Super Bowl champions.

That run begins with linebacker Keena Turner, who was selected by the 49ers with the 39th overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft out of Purdue. Turner would go on to play all 11 of his seasons for the 49ers and win four Super Bowls, including being part of the back-to-back runs in 1988 and 1989.

Turner was a do-it-all linebacker for the 49ers defenses during that time, as he pulled down 11 career interceptions, racked up 19.5 sacks and recovered eight fumbles, one of which he scored a touchdown on.

He also added two more interceptions, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 18 career playoff games.

While he wasn’t often recognized by the rest the league among the best at his position (he only made one Pro Bowl in 1984), Turner is still looked at as one of the more important defensive players in franchise history given the during which he played.

Turner has remained a part of the organization almost exclusively since he retired after the 1990 season, having worked as part of the front office and other positions within the organization in various capacities since 1991.

He is currently the team’s Vice President and Senior Advisor to the General Manager.
