It would be wonderful if Ohio State cornerback Jeffrey Okudah fell to the 49ers at No. 13 overall, but he’s likely to be a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft, if not the top five.

Still, one player well within San Francisco’s draft range is Utah’s Jaylon Johnson, who fits the bill with his 6-foot-0, 193-pound frame.

Johnson hit that crucial 4.50 40-yard time at the NFL Combine, also putting up a solid 36.5 vertical leap.

But what stands out about Johnson is his ability to bounce back and forth between zone and man coverages. He’s more than capable of holding his own and converging in zone coverage, but watching him stick to his receiver in man is something else. And when he’s beat, Johnson is able to recover quickly enough to limit the damage done.

Johnson was also highly productive with the Utes, too, registering an impressive 11 pass breakups his junior year combined with seven interceptions over his three-year collegiate career.

Granted, Johnson does have some injury concerns, and one can wonder about his pure strength a bit.

For now, it looks as if Johnson would go no higher than later on in Round 1, meaning the 49ers could gamble trading out of No. 31 while hoping he slips, or they can simply bank on him being available late in the round.
