Cornerback. Tigers . A.J. Terrell. 2. player. 879.

The last memory most fans have of Clemson cornerback A.J. Terrell is him being abused by LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase in the College Football Playoff National Championship game, it’s impossible to overlook the fact Terrell had himself a great season up to that point.

Like Jaylon Johnson, Terrell has an ideal boundary frame at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds.

But what sets Terrell apart from Johnson is the better lockdown abilities, which prevented many an opposing quarterback from targeting Terrell in coverage.

Still, Terrell managed a solid six interceptions over his three-year collegiate career.

Terrell ran a slightly faster 4.42 40-yard time at the NFL Combine, and he uses this speed to match his receiver’s running pattern, rarely allowing separation to get deep. And when that happens, Terrell has been able to recover nicely enough.

There are some knocks against Terrell, of course, especially some tackling consistency, and one would want to see him have a bit more ball production when he is targeted.

Yet there are plenty of attributes here to like, and Terrell is an excellent candidate to look at if the 49ers decide to go with this position at the tail end of Round 1.
