By Peter Panacy
The San Francisco 49ers have selected some pretty notable wide receivers in the NFL Draft, especially one in particular. But who are the 10 best? Niner Noise ranks them all out.
It’s been a while since the San Francisco 49ers have had repeated impactful and truly long-lasting success with selecting wide receivers in the NFL Draft.
Yet the Niners have enjoyed some major success drafting for this position over the years, which have included some glory days from San Francisco-drafted wideouts. When thinking about players who fit this bill, it’s easy to note the greatest player of all time, Hall of Famer Jerry Rice. Not far behind him in the all-time pecking order is another 49ers wide receiver great, Terrell Owens.
These two helped support some glory years for San Francisco pass catchers, stretching from the mid-1980s all the way into the current century.
But going back further, the Niners managed to produce some excellent NFL Draft picks at the position, too. Sure, fans will have to dive deep into the annals of franchise history to understand just how good some other 49ers wide receivers were long before the days of primetime television.
Still, there are some noteworthy wide receiver draft picks San Francisco had way back when, too.
Yet there’s still a good question to be asked: Who are the greatest wide receivers the 49ers have ever drafted?
We’re glad you asked.
In this all-time breakdown, Niner Noise goes back through the franchise’s long and storied history, ranking out the Niners’ 10 best drafted wide receivers all time.
And we’ll kick this list off with a player who makes it despite some notable controversy over his up-and-down career.
