It won’t happen this way. But what if the San Francisco 49ers used the entirety of the 2020 NFL Draft to focus solely on defense? In this mock draft, they do.

The San Francisco 49ers have some notable offensive needs in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft, yes. Especially if you’re considering wide receiver, the offensive line and perhaps a tight end within the wish list for general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan.

But one could make the argument the Niners defense has more long-term concerns, particularly after trading away defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts, which consequently landed San Francisco the No. 13 overall pick in this year’s draft.

Potentially finding Buckner’s replacement could be on Lynch and Shanahan’s wish list in this NFL Draft, too.

Defensive line depth, short- and long-term needs at cornerback as well as some added help at safety should also be on the 49ers’ to-do list between now and the immediate aftermath of the draft. While Lynch won’t necessarily be seeking a ton of upgrades across the board, the defense is a side of the ball he can’t ignore.

At any rate, it’s mock draft season. You’ve likely seen a ton of them for the Niners up to this point.

But to shake things up a bit, Niner Noise plays around with the idea of an all-defense 2020 NFL Draft for San Francisco, using each one of the picks at Lynch’s disposal to address this particular side of the ball.

To help achieve this, we’ll use our trusty friends over at FanSpeak and their mock draft tool to determine who might be available in each round.

Getting us to the No. 13 overall pick, and the 49ers are officially on the clock.
