2020 NFL Draft: 32-pick Round 1 mock with 49ers selecting twice
By Peter Panacy
The Saints don’t have a ton of needs this offseason, particularly after landing Emmanuel Sanders after he left the 49ers.
This creates one of the more dynamic offenses in the league. And with quarterback Drew Brees still playing at a high level, there’s little reason to expect New Orleans will be anything but another playoff team in 2020.
Yet the Saints could stand for some defensive reinforcements and depth, especially in the intermediate areas of the field.
So with this pick, New Orleans stays local and grabs a player it should know well, LSU linebacker Patrick Queen.
At 6-foot-1 and 227 pounds, Queen is a little undersized to handle anything other than run-stopping duties in space and coverage assignments. But he’s good at those, rangy and has excellent reactive instincts.
Queen could start off as a top-quality rotational piece right away, then soon emerging as a three-down starter.
