2020 NFL Draft: 32-pick Round 1 mock with 49ers selecting twice
By Peter Panacy
All those provocative Dallas Cowboys contractual moves over the past season-plus are starting to come back to haunt owner Jerry Jones and Co.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is on the franchise tag, which is fine. At least as long as he’s able to sign an eventual long-term deal, which isn’t going to be cheap. Amari Cooper also got his lucrative contract, which will keep him around for another five years.
Again, fine.
But these moves and commitments ultimately forced Dallas to let cornerback Byron Jones walk in free agency, and there isn’t exactly a top-tier option to replace him just yet.
While he’s nowhere on the level of Jeffrey Okudah, Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson is a quality option on the back nine of the NFL Draft. At 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, Henderson has the ideal body type and flexibility to cover boundary routes as well as those in the middle of the field. Henderson’s reaction skills are smart, and he had a knack for getting in the way of passes last season with 11 pass breakups.
Sure, there could be questions about Henderson’s physicality. But he looks to be an excellent cover player at the next level.
