No. 1: Player from the 2020 NFL Draft

Typically, it’s not a good idea to entirely bank on a rookie wide receiver immediately making an impact on day one at the NFL level after being drafted.

But this year’s wide receiver draft class is anything but typical.

More from SF 49ers News

The 2020 draft is loaded with wideouts, many of them projected to be of the elite level. Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy is one name many should watch, and he’s widely viewed as the No. 1 prospect in this year’s class. If not Jeudy, fellow former Crimson Tide teammate Henry Ruggs III is more than enticing a fit for Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb could have the highest ceiling out of this group, while LSU’s Justin Jefferson is a sheer playmaker.

Even second-tier wideouts, such as Clemson’s Tee Higgins or TCU’s Jalen Reagor, have first-round talent.

With two picks in the first round of the NFL Draft, Nos. 13 and 31, the 49ers will certainly have a shot at one of the aforementioned prospects.

Again, it’s important to note these players will all be rookies. Even Deebo Samuel struggled a bit early in his first season before catching on in the second half. But there’s a strong, strong chance one of these wide receivers, if selected, winds up starting right away for San Francisco in 2020.
