No. 2: Wide Receiver Robby Anderson

It’s a bit strange former New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson hasn’t signed anywhere after the first wave of NFL free agency. Especially considering the free-agent wide receiver class this offseason was awfully thin.

Perhaps it’s due to the draft being tremendously deep and talented at wide receiver, and teams are electing to get younger and cheaper instead of grabbing a highly productive player like Anderson, who was initially thought to command a large-dollar deal.

Anderson will probably command a decent contract despite not generating a ton of interest right out of the gate. But each day that passes, he’d easily start fitting more and more into San Francisco’s comfort range.

The 26-year-old Anderson has been solid on some not-so-solid Jets offenses the past four seasons. It would be fun to watch a player like Anderson operate in Kyle Shanahan’s system, using his speed and deep-threat capabilities to the maximum.

The 49ers need a player who can stretch the field, especially if they elect to move on from Marquise Goodwin this offseason.

Update: Anderson has reportedly signed a two-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
