No. 3: Cornerback Daryl Worley

Like wide receiver, the 49ers will need to upgrade and reinforce their cornerback crop between now and Week 1.

The needs are a little less pressing, as the defense appears to have its starters for 2020 in place: Richard Sherman, Emmanuel Moseley and K’Waun Williams. But Sherman is entering a contract year, and Moseley has yet to truly solidify himself as a regular starter. Even if he does, finding Sherman’s replacement is something likely to happen sooner than later.

Expect that route to come via the draft, but there are some depth questions to answer.

One name who should be on San Francisco’s radar is former Oakland Raiders cornerback Daryl Worley, who’ll likely not be back with the team on its move to Las Vegas after the Raiders inked cornerback Eli Apple.

Worley has been a regular starter ever since being drafted by the Carolina Panthers in Round 3 of the 2016 NFL Draft. And while he doesn’t have eye-popping numbers, he’s been consistent.

If the Niners are looking for some excellent competition on the cheap with some potential long-term starting capability, Worley wouldn’t be a bad idea.
