No. 4: SS Jaquiski Tartt

Much like with Kyle Juszczyk, 49ers strong safety Jaquisk Tartt could be someone who is nearing the end of his deal and could look to extend mostly to keep the now-sixth-year pro around for a little while longer.

The Niners drafted Tartt in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Samford, and when he has been on the field, he’s been one of the better box safeties in the league. It’s also difficult to argue the 49ers weren’t worse defensively last season with Tartt off the field, as he was for four games in 2019.

His cap hit for the upcoming season will be at just over $6 million, according to Over the Cap, good for 20th among NFL safeties.

And while it would be a good idea to get that number down a bit if they can, the most important reason for offering Tartt a longer contract is to reward his strong play and allow him to hold down his spot on the field for a few more seasons.
